Actress Hilary Swank admits that when it comes to getting into the character, she will go to such extreme lengths that she once ended up seriously risking her health. The acress, who has taken home best actress Oscars for her performances in Boys Don’t Cry and Million Dollar Baby, insists that if she believes in a particuler role, she will go the distance, no matter what it takes. “if I believe in a role, and in story, I will do what I need to make it believable and to make it work,” a website quoted her, as saying. Her dedication, Swank admits, can sometimes cause a serious problem for her health. “I have some problems with elevated mercury in my system. I wasn’t eating meat when i was filming Million Dollar baby but had to put on 19 punds of muscle. So I ate a lot of fish. And for Boys don’t cry, I went down to seven per cent body fat. In Black Dahlia, when my character dies. I hot my arm on an old-fashioned ironing board, and I have a scar from that,” she revealed. However, Swank is extremly proud of her “battle scars”, and insists that she wouldn’t want to her life any other way. “But how great to have that. That’s what life is – you want to get in three and play hard. The battle scars are a reminder that you are alive and human and that tou bleed,” she said.
